Membership associations are heavily dependent on membership dues and the growth associated with the business or profession being promoted. These organizations are constantly looking for opportunities to expand the services offered to their members to minimize their dependence on membership dues. Additional services offered include publications, trade shows, annual conferences, and accreditation. There is increasing competition from the private sector to provide these services.
SBC has developed into a leading provider of professional public accounting services in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area’s not-for-profit industry. Our familiarity with the cost structure and issues facing associations allows us to provide guidance to this sector as part of the audit process.
SBC provides these entities with audit, tax and advisory services to assist with their regulatory requirements and compete in this sector.
SBC is a member of the Maryland Nonprofits as well as the Nonprofit Roundtable and the Greater Washington Society of CPAs. Additionally, Pamela Gray is a member of the FASB Non Profit Advisory Committee (NAC). The NAC is a standing committee that works closely with the FASB in an advisory capacity to ensure that perspectives from the not-for-profit sector are effectively communicated to the FASB on a timely basis in connection with the development of financial accounting and reporting standards.
