Bio: Christopher (Chris) is a partner at SBC with 16 years of expertise providing financial auditing services for numerous clients in the government industry. He is accustomed to working in a customer service environment with a fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere. He will have day-to-day oversight, contact with the client and play a key role in decisions on all significant issues. As Chris has served many government clients, he understands regulations and reporting requirements. Chris has served as both a teacher and guest speaker at Maryland Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), GFOA-PA Central Region, and GFOA Washington Metropolitan Area.

Bio: Pamela Gray is a partner with SB & Company, LLC, and has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting. Prior to SBC, Pam was an audit senior manager with Arthur Andersen, LLP, and was the Vice President of Finance at Catapult Learning, LLC and Educate, Inc. (formerly Sylvan Learning Systems). With Andersen and SBC, Pam has performed audits for numerous not-for-profit organizations throughout the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area and sits on the board of several regional larger nonprofits.
Pam’s operational experience lends itself to the smaller and earlier-staged organizations which need assistance in structuring their finance function, HR, systems and processes. She focuses on driving results through a full and complete understanding of the overall business strategy of her clients and helping finance executives align their operations. Pam is meticulous in her approach and spend the time necessary to add value beyond delivering the numbers.
Pam also has significant experience serving healthcare entities in revenue, rate, and cost consulting projects. Her progressive financial executive experience stems from her leadership in finance operations, spear-heading change control to improve profitability, and directing daily execution.

Bio: William Seymour is a founding partner at SB & Company, LLC and leads SBC’s public sector industry group. Before joining SBC, Bill was at Arthur Andersen, LLP in the Mid-Atlantic state and local government and employee benefit plan practices.
Bill brings extensive experience working with mid-sized to large multibillion-dollar government entities. Bill is a GFOA certificate reviewer and is active in the industry, attending many GFOA, MDGFOA, GFOA-PA, AICPA, and MACPA events. He has testified on proposed government accounting standards to GASB.
Additionally, Bill has taught at MDGFOA courses and is a frequent speaker on industry-related topics. Bill is a former member of the AICPA Government Quality Center Executive Team, a former member of its Employee Benefit Plan Quality Center Executive Team and an adjunct Professor at Towson University.

Bio: Monique is a founding partner at SB & Company, LLC and has over 30 years of experience in public accounting. Monique is a former senior manager with Arthur Andersen, LLP’s Baltimore Practice where she performed audits for not-for-profit entities, colleges and universities, state and local government, commercial organizations and public companies throughout the country.
Monique makes recommendations to improve processes and controls and assists clients in the implementation of corrective action plans. She is also in charge of SBC’s Quality Assurance overseeing our quality protocols. As a board member of several larger nonprofit organizations in Maryland, she has great insights relating to governance issues.
Monique recently finished her term on the AICPA Auditing Standards Board (ASB), the AICPA’s senior committee for auditing, attestation, and quality control applicable to the performance and issuance of audit and attestation reports.

Bio: Graylin (Gray) Smith is Managing Partner of SB & Company, LLC. He is also one of the founding partners, with more than 35 years’ experience in audit, risk consulting, and business advisory services. Gray started his career in the Baltimore office of Arthur Andersen, LLP (Andersen). His career at Andersen spanned Mid-Atlantic technology, media and communications; manufacturing and distribution; college and universities; state and local government; government contracting; employee benefit planning; and risk consulting. After Andersen ceased operations, Gray moved as a partner to Ernst & Young before forming SBC.
Gray saw a tremendous opportunity to leverage his experience within the Big 4 and create a firm as an alternative to the larger firms. He envisioned and has successfully built a firm as a unique alternative to larger firms by offering better service and value consistently across engagements, serve markets no longer considered significant for the larger firms, and provide professional opportunities for minorities they wouldn’t necessarily find at other firms. Gray’s clients at SBC range from start-up entities to multi-billion dollar organizations. He has significant experience assisting clients raise capital through banks, private placements, venture capital, and public stock and debt offerings. Gray has assisted numerous clients with merger and acquisition transactions. Gray also has experience with nonprofits and public sector entities.
